Glowing Spyrograph Rainbows and a First Taste of England

Using Adobe After Effects is like crack for my eyes. Using the Echo filter, I created something wonderful.

Well, here goes. This is my first post from England. I'm glad to say that with some of this newly found free time I've come across, I'm able to start producing a few things that... are pretty. I created the following animation and images after my brain exploded with inspiration from seeing Simon Page's post "Fun with Circles designs".

Math.sin((time * 2) * Math.PI), I love you. from Admiral Potato on Vimeo.

This is a tiny video I put together to illustrate the idea that a certain image that I created was based off of a very simply animated oval. It also does a rather nice job of showing off what After Effects' "Echo" filter can do. The math in the title of the piece basically tells the oval to move up and down smoothly, which just happens to be while it's doing some rotating around a few different axes.

Here are the rest of the images in this particular set. I find this such an attractive visual idea that I realistically see myself re-visiting the concept several times. Let's hope that I do!

DOUBLE RAINBOW, ALL THE WAY! DOUBLE RAINBOW, ALL THE WAY! DOUBLE RAINBOW, ALL THE WAY! DOUBLE RAINBOW, ALL THE WAY! DOUBLE RAINBOW, ALL THE WAY! DOUBLE RAINBOW, ALL THE WAY!

Now, about this England business. What was my first taste of it like? Bland. Really bland. Almost everything over here needs salt. Like... a lot of it. Except the Curry. I've been loving the fresh Curry that I've been getting from a few restaurants around my new place. I'm fairly certain that my whole diet will be 100% Curry while I'm here. Yup. I'm completely serious about that. For a whole year. Seriously.

Enough about the flavor. The reason I even mentioned England is so I could show off these cool photos I took on the way over here. Yeah. The orange image was probably taken over The Netherlands somewhere, and the green one as taken right over Leeds, UK. Yup. Well, I guess that's it for this post.
